67th Avenue Corridor - Construction Info

APS and Southwest Gas contractors are relocating their facilities along 67th Avenue thru Spring 2025.  Traffic restrictions are in place, as needed, to accommodate that work. 

The City of Peoria has contracted with Sundt Construction for improvements to 67th Avenue, from Pinnacle Peak Road to Happy Valley Road. Work is scheduled to begin in mid-March for drainage improvements along Pinnacle Peak Road and Hatfield Road, west of 67th Avenue, as follows:

• Scheduled for March 2025 – December 2026, the New River Trail will be CLOSED at Hatfield Road, between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley, with signage in place and no detour available. This closure will accommodate excavation and installation of a 90” storm drain pipe to serve as the outfall for drainage during stormwater events.  

• Scheduled to begin the week of March 24, crews will install 90" storm drain pipe at the west end of Hatfield Road at New River. Pipe installation will then continue in the Hatfield Road alignment east to the basin just west of 67th Avenue.

• Work is currently taking place in various locations to relocate waterline as needed, to prepare for storm drain installation. Affected residents will be notified in advance of any planned disruption to water service. 

• Also scheduled to begin the week of March 24, a second crew will work to trench and install 60” storm drain pipe in the north side of Pinnacle Peak Road, from the drainage basin at 70th Avenue to 67th Avenue. Pinnacle Peak Road will remain open for travel during this work and resident access will be maintained.

• Segments of the path at the retention basin on the northeast corner of 70th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road will be closed to accommodate storm drain pipe installation at the southeast corner of the basin.
